2022 Ford Super Duty
The Ford Super Duty pickup truck has a model and engine for every need. The F-250, F350, and F-450 trucks come with a choice of powerful engines, and the trim lineup starts with the basics and moves up into luxury territory. For the 2022 model year, the Super Duty gains new infotainment features, new color options, and there's a new appearance package available.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Super Duty XL comes with 17-inch steel wheels, black painted steel bumpers, and black exterior trim elements. The XLT adds 18-inch wheels, a chrome grille, and chrome bumpers, while the Lariat has power-folding tow mirrors. Step up to the King Ranch for 20-inch wheels, running boards, a tailgate step, body-colored bumpers, or to the Platinum for body-colored front and rear bumpers, LED taillights, fog lights, and chrome exhaust tips. The top-level Limited adds to all this with a twin-panel moonroof.
Engine (Power)
The 2022 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks come with a 6.2-liter V-8 gas engine that puts out 385 horsepower. A 7.3-liter V-8 is a more powerful option delivering 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The available Power Stroke 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine comes standard with the F-450 and is an option for the other two trucks. This engine generates 47 horsepower and delivers 1,050 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
These trucks are all about power and capability. When equipped with the turbodiesel engine, a fifth wheel, and gooseneck hitch, the F-350 and F-450 can tow up to 37,000 pounds. This same setup with a conventional hitch can pull up to 24,200 pounds.
Interior
The Super Duty's cabin starts with just the basics in the XL trim, but with each bump to the next level, it gets more upscale and luxurious. Starting with the midlevel Lariat, the Super Duty comes with leather-trimmed seats, power-adjustable front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Platinum bumps up the convenience with a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and massaging front seats, and the Limited has upgraded two-tone leather upholstery.
Technology features in the Super Duty include an 8-inch touch screen starting it the XLT. This trim also has two USB-C ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two 110-volt power outlets. The Platinum and the Limited get a 12-inch touch screen with built-in navigation and the SYNC 4 infotainment system, and the Limited adds a Wi-Fi hot spot and an upgraded B & O stereo with 10 speakers.
Safety Features
Every Super Duty comes standard with a rearview camera, hill start assist, and a post-crash alert system. The XLT adds forward collision alert with automatic braking and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and the Lariat adds to this with rear parking sensors. The Platinum has an adaptive cruise control system, and the Limited adds an adaptive steering system, lane-keeping alert, and automatic high beam headlights. A 360-degree surround-view camera is available along with trailer backup assist, and if you add the FX-4 Off-Road package, it comes with hill descent control.
