2022 Ford Transit Connect
The Transit Connect is Ford's compact cargo and passenger van. It's more efficient than larger cargo vans and can even fit in a standard garage while still offering the versatility you want for a business vehicle. For the 2022 model year, Ford added new Dark Sparkle 16-inch alloy wheels as an option, and the cargo van now offers roof rails with crossbars. Here's a quick look at the 2022 Ford Transit Connect.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The XL is the entry-level Transit Connect. The cargo van has sliding side doors, the option for either rear cargo doors or a rear liftgate, and it comes in a long and short wheelbase and has 16-inch alloy wheels. Step up to the Transit Connect XLT for body-colored bumpers in the front and back, fog lights, and power-folding, heated side exterior mirrors. The passenger wagon comes only with a long wheelbase. The entry-level XL has manually adjustable side mirrors while bumping up to the XLT passenger wagon gets you a five-bar grille with a chrome surround. The Platinum adds to this with a fixed glass panoramic sunroof.
Engine (Power)
Power for the Transit Connect XL comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine that makes 162 horsepower and generates 144 pound-feet of torque. It comes with front-wheel drive and uses Ford's eight-speed automatic transmission. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine that works with a six-speed automatic is a more powerful engine option for the Transit Connect. This combination puts out 169 horsepower and gets 171 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Both engines have the power to easily propel the Transit Connect whether you drive in the city or on the highway, but its compact size and small turning radius make it easy to handle and maneuver around city streets. When equipped, this van can tow up to 2,000 pounds.
Interior
The Cargo van has space in the back to accommodate a standard pallet, and the Wagon comes with seating for seven. The XL has vinyl-covered seats and comes standard with air conditioning, while the XLT upgrades to cloth upholstery and adds a manual lumbar adjustment for the driver's seat. The XL Wagon comes with cloth upholstery for the first two rows, and it has dual-zone automatic climate control. Bumping up to the Titanium adds leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and heated front seats.
Technology in the XL includes a 4.2-inch screen, Bluetooth, a USB port, and Wi-Fi. The XLT upgrades to a 6.5-inch touch screen, and it comes with the SYNC 3 infotainment system, satellite radio, and an extra USB port. The XLT also adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a wireless charging pad.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Transit Connect comes with a forward-collision warning system with automatic braking and pedestrian detection. It also has a side wind stabilization feature and comes with hill start assist. Stepping up to the XLT adds more driver aids such as a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beam headlights, and a lane-keep assist system. Adaptive cruise control comes with the Platinum trim along with front parking sensors.
