Every Ford includes an advanced drive assistance system called Co-Pilot360. This system helps protect you and your passengers by warning you of potential dangers on the road. You’ll receive visual and audio alerts of impending danger so you can take control and prevent an accident. As your Ford dealer, we want to tell you how some of these systems work.

Pre-Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking

This system uses radar and a camera to scan the area in front of your Ford for vehicles, pedestrians, or animals. If an object is identified, the radar determines your distance from the object and compares this to your speed. If the system determines you’re closing too fast and there’s a collision risk, an audio alert sounds, and a warning icon appears on your screen. This allows you to hit the brakes and prevent an accident.

Some drivers can freeze if an accident appears likely, losing the opportunity to prevent it from happening. If you don’t react fast enough after you receive warnings, the system will automatically apply hard braking to stop your Ford and hopefully prevent a collision.

Reverse Brake Assist

This feature makes reversing much safer by alerting you to vehicles or pedestrians that may pass behind you. It uses sensors to monitor the area directly behind your vehicle and to its left and right. If the sensors detect movement, you’ll hear an audible warning and a visual warning will appear on your screen to identify the moving object’s location. This gives you time to brake and avoid an accident.

Blind Spot Assist

Accidents can easily happen when changing lanes, as it’s almost impossible to see something enter one of your blind spots. This system uses sonar to watch your blind spots and identify any vehicle that enters one.

When you’re about to indicate to shift lanes or are actively steering in that direction, you’ll be warned if a vehicle is already present in that lane. A warning tone will sound, a warning will appear on your screen, and an icon will appear on the corresponding side mirror. These warnings give you a heads-up to apply the brakes or turn away until the other vehicle has gone.

These are just some of the many ways Co-Pilot360 keeps you safe. If you’d like to know more about the safety features of your vehicle, contact us today at Chestatee Ford in Dahlonega, GA.
