Trim Levels
There are five trim levels available for the 2020 Ford Escape: S, SE, SE Sport Hybrid, SEL, and Titanium. With sleek lines and an athletic stance, the Escape has a sporty, yet classy look. With the SE Sport Premium package, you'll get 19-inch machined-fac aluminum wheels with painted pockets and black roof-rack rails.
Engine
Gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options are available in the 2020 Escape. The gas engines are powered by either a 1.5-liter EcoBoost or a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with auto start-stop technology. The engines are paired to an eight-speed SelectShift transmission.
Standard on all hybrid and plug-in hybrid trim levels is a 2.5-liter iVCT Atkinson-cycle I-4 engine. It has an 88-kilowatt electric motor and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. The plug-in hybrid trims have a Level1/Level 2 AC charging port. It takes about 10 to 11 hours to fully charge the Escape with a 110-volt Level 1 charger, and only 3.5 hours with a 24-volt Level 2 charger.
Performance
The Escape is available with all-wheel drive disconnect, which disables the rear driveline with all-wheel drive isn't necessary. Selectable drive modes allow you to choose the best mode for your driving conditions. Select from Eco, Normal, Sport, Slippery, and Deep Snow/Sand and the system will automatically modify the stability control and traction control systems for you.
When the 2.0-liter engine is equipped with the available Class II Trailer Tow package, you'll be able to tow up to 3,000 pounds. With the 1.5-liter engine under the hood, you'll have a 2,000-pound towing capacity. The hybrid and plug-in hybrids can tow up to 1,500 pounds.
Interior
Five passengers can sit comfortably in the Escape. You'll have plenty of leg room, thanks to the second-row 60/40 split-fold seats with a sliding feature. A hands-free foot-activated liftgate is standard on the SEL and Titanium trims and available for the other trim levels. Passengers will enjoy the views from the Panoramic Vista roof, which is available in the SE, SEL, and Titanium trim levels.
SYNC 3 is available in all trims and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This allows you to access your favorite playlists, navigation, texts, and more while on the move. With the available voice-activated navigation system, you can keep your eyes on the road while finding your way to your destination. FordPass Connect is also available and makes your SUV a Wi-Fi hot spot. Connect up to 10 devices inside the vehicle or up to 50 feet away.
Safety Features
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard equipment in all trim levels of the 2020 Escape. The system includes driver-assisted technologies such as pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, rearview camera, evasive steering assist, and lane-keeping assist. Active Park Assist 2.0 is also an available option that makes parking in tight spots a simple task.
