2021 Ford Explorer

The 2021 Ford Explorer is available in the usual spread of trim levels, with the addition of a hybrid model. Start off with the already well-equipped base-level Explorer, XLT, Limited, Limited Hybrid, ST, and Platinum.

Choose the available Sport Appearance package to add Carbonized Gray accents to your Explorer's exterior, as well as 20-inch alloy wheels. The ST's black mesh grille and unique badging give it a more aggressive and sporty personality. Opt for the hands-free tailgate to make loading your Explorer's rear cargo area easier. Whether you're taking on family trips or daily commutes, the 2021 Explorer's confident front fascia and sculpted body lines make a statement wherever you go.

The new Explorer has three engine options. Its gasoline-exclusive options are a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque and a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid option, a 3.3-liter V-6 engine with an electric motor that is offered only for the Limited, produces a total system of 318 horsepower. These engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

For an added level of confidence, choose a 2021 Explorer equipped with the available all-wheel-drive system. This feature automatically detects when one of the SUV's wheels has lost traction and will send extra grip-boosting power to the wheels that need it. When you don't need it, the all-wheel drive can be disconnected at highway speeds to improve fuel economy. The Terrain Management System gives you selectable drive modes, including Tow/Haul, Sport, and Deep Snow/Sand, to better prepare your Explorer for the road ahead.

Inside the new 2021 Explorer, you'll find seats for up to seven passengers in three rows. If you opt for the second-row captain's chairs, you'll lower the seating capacity to six but increase comfort levels for the second-row riders. If you need more space to pack more gear, you can lay the rear two rows flat to substantially increase the Explorer's cargo room, expanding cargo capacity from 18.2 to 87.8 cubic feet.

Move up through the trim levels to get access to luxurious features such as the heated front two seats and steering wheel, massaging front seats, and a 10.1-inch vertical touch screen.

Each 2021 Ford Explorer is equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assist technologies that use outboard sensors to help you stay more aware of other vehicles on the road. This suite includes a lane-keeping system, a forward-collision warning system, automatic high beams, and a blind-spot monitor. Ford also offers the Co-Pilot360+ package, which adds even more advanced technologies to your SUV.
