2022 Ford E-Transit
The E-Transit is the latest cargo van from Ford, and it runs entirely on electric power. It looks exactly like the gas-powered version, but instead of the combustion engine, it has an electric motor and a battery. The E-Transit will have the same interior quality as the regular Transit and offer the latest tech and safety features. Here's a look at the 2022 Ford E-Transit Cargo van.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
At its initial release, the E-Transit will come in just one trim level but offer three different lengths, three roof heights, and the option to get it in a cutaway model and a chassis cab. It rides on 16-inch steel wheels, has a sliding side door with a wide opening, and has rear doors that open 180 degrees, making loading and unloading gear easy.
Engine (Power)
The E-Transit's electric powertrain uses a DC permanent electric motor and a 67 kWh battery pack. It generates 266 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque that the driver will feel as soon as their foot hits the accelerator. There's a single-speed automatic transmission, and it comes with rear-wheel drive. Ford provides options for charging the E-Transit, so you always have plenty of power. You'll find public charging areas all throughout North America, and the built-in navigation system lets you know where they are. Home charging with the 240V mobile charger will get you 10 miles per charging hour.
Performance
The versatility you get with an electric cargo van means it can do much more than the gas version. The battery pack provides up to 126 miles of range on a full charge, and zero emissions make it possible to use the E-Transit in areas with limited ventilation, such as a greenhouse. The almost silent operation even means you can work anywhere day or night without disturbing neighbors.
Interior
The highest roof model has space in the cargo area for someone up to six feet nine inches tall to stand up straight, and the medium roof height will accommodate someone up to six feet tall. The cargo area has a rubber floor, plastic trim, and options for upgrading to fit any business. The two seats in the front have cloth upholstery with manual adjustments, and it now has an e-brake on the center console, which replaces the manual parking brake to free up some space. Ford equipped the E-Transit with plenty of tech features for work and play. It comes with a 12-inch touch screen display, and the SYNC 4 infotainment system is an available option. The Connected Built-in Navigation system provides information on nearby charging stations, and it uses over-the-air updates, so you always have the latest information.
Safety Features
The E-Transit comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360 safety systems. This group offers some new technologies, including an intelligent adaptive cruise control system, speed sign recognition, intelligent speed assist, and a revere brake assist system. You can also get intersection assist and a 360-degree camera package. Businesses using the E-Transit for their fleet can also get Smart Acceleration Control to help monitor and improve driver behavior by limiting acceleration speeds.
