2023 Ford Expedition

For 2023, the Expedition is available in XL, XLT, Timberline, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum trim levels. All but the XL are also offered as the longer Expedition MAX, which has a larger cargo area.

The XL trim has a gloss black grille, LED headlights, daytime running lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, running boards, and heated power mirrors with approach lights. XLT models have color-keyed mirrors and a power liftgate. The Timberline adds exterior zone lighting, LED fog lights and signature lighting, and power-folding mirrors with turn signals and memory.

Stepping up to the Limited gives you a chrome-trimmed grille, rain-sensing wipers, 20-inch wheels, chrome-accented door handles, a panoramic moonroof, a hands-free liftgate, and LED taillights. Go with the King Ranch for 22-inch wheels and power deployable running boards, while the Platinum adds stylish satin aluminum trim.

Base power for the Expedition comes from a turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine delivering 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The Timberline trim features a high-output version of the V-6 that generates 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

For a large SUV, the Expedition feels light to drive and offers superb handling and stability around curves. Its independent suspension ensures a smooth and refined ride. Timberline models come standard with four-wheel drive that's optional for other trims. With the available Trailer Tow Package, the Expedition offers a maximum towing capacity of 9,300 pounds.

Inside, the Expedition has an upscale cabin that surrounds you with premium materials. The XL has seating for five along with a 63.6-cubic-foot cargo area. With the rear seats folded, you have 104.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The other trims feature a power-folding and reclining third row and offer seating for up to eight. With the Expedition MAX, you get a cargo area of up to 121.5 cubic feet.

The XL features keyless ignition, an 8-inch vehicle information display, cloth upholstery, a power driver's seat, three-zone automatic temperature control, and a leather-bound steering wheel. The Sync 4 infotainment system features a 12-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice control, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

In the Timberline, you'll find unique interior trim, simulated leather upholstery with contrast stitching, driver memory functions, a power-adjustable passenger seat, power-folding second-row seats, and a 110-volt power outlet.

The Limited trim offers perforated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, second-row heated captain's chairs, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, and a 12-speaker B&O audio system with HD radio. Going with the King Ranch gets you a 22-speaker B&O Unleashed sound system. The Platinum trim adds a 12.4-inch digital instrument display and massaging front seats.

The Expedition comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360, which includes pre-collision assist, autonomous emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, cross-traffic warning, and a lane keeping system. The Limited adds adaptive cruise control, while the Platinum trim features an automated parking system and the BlueCruise hands-free driving system.
