2023 Ford Ranger

There are three trim levels available for the Ranger, and they each have something special to offer regarding their exterior features. At the base level, you'll find the XL trim, which already has quite a few exterior features you may be interested in, including a built-in spotter mirror and auto on/off halogen headlights with wiper-activation technology. Plus, the wheels start at a stylish 16 inches.

The upgraded trims push things a little further, with the XLT offering fog lights and 17-inch alloy wheels. With this trim, you also get power side mirrors and rear privacy glass. It also comes in rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive versions, with the former getting all-season tires and the latter getting all-terrain tires. The top-level trim is the Lariat, which boasts 18-inch machined alloy wheels, LED headlights and fog lights, and power-folding heated side mirrors.

Engine options can be helpful, but you don't really need them for vehicles that already have a stunning powertrain. That's exactly what you'll find with the Ranger, as its only engine is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. This powerhouse of an engine produces 270 horsepower with 310 pound-feet of torque. Taking control of all this power is simple, thanks to the Ranger's responsive 10-speed automatic transmission.

If you're buying a truck, you're probably interested in its capability, and the Ranger certainly doesn't disappoint here. When you properly equip this truck with the tow package, it has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. The payload capacity is impressive too, as it reaches a maximum of 1,860 pounds. Keep in mind that if you opt for the 4WD version of this truck, you get 8.9 inches of ground clearance compared to the RWD's 8.4 inches.

With two cabin options available, the Ranger's interior can be customized as you see fit. With the SuperCab, you get a larger bed length with less room in the back row. Still, there's room enough for a fairly comfortable back row of seats. If you plan on having passengers quite often, though, the SuperCrew may be preferable, as it makes the back row of seats much more spacious and comfortable at the cost of bed length. Either way, you can enjoy quite a few storage cubbies and compartments inside for that extra bit of cargo.

You can drive with peace of mind thanks to the Ranger's array of safety features. Some of the most important standard features include forward collision alerts and automated emergency braking. If you want to upgrade, you'll find even more systems available including blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control.
