Learn the History at Dahlonega Gold Museum

The Dahlonega Gold Museum is located inside the 1836 Lumpkin County Courthouse, one of Georgia’s oldest standing buildings. Visitors can peruse exhibits depicting the history of the area, including a complete set of rare coins, a hydraulic cannon and nozzle, and a gold nugget weighing more than five ounces. Take a walk through the courthouse and note its beautiful features such as the wooden chapel seats that date back to 1889. Take a seat and watch a short film, and pick up souvenirs in the museum’s gift shop. With advance notice, tours and group rates are available.

The museum is located at 1 Public Square and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
