For 47 years in a row, Ford’s F-series has been America’s best-selling family of trucks, and the 2024 Ford F-150 is a legendary member of the family. The F-150 was revamped in 2024, giving it a “do anything” appearance and performance. The mighty F-150 series has nine different models and three different cab sizes and is available in 4×2 and 4×4.

One Engine Does Not Fit All

Ford has developed five gas engines and a hybrid engine. These engines have impressive horsepower and torque output and perform well when driving, hauling, going off-road, and towing. All engines are combined with an electronic 10-speed automatic transmission, ABS, and electric power-assisted steering. The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine has a tow rating of up to 13,500 pounds with a payload capacity of 2,445 pounds.

The SelectShift automatic transmission with Progressive Range Select offers six selectable drive modes, each giving you versatility in performance and traction. If your chosen truck is a 4×4, you will also have a seventh Mud/Rut mode.

Hybrid and All-Electric

The 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid V6 engine is available in select models. It can tow up to 11,200 pounds and has integrated regenerative braking. Its estimated range is 240 miles, and with a long-range battery, it can go an estimated 320 miles.

The all-electric truck, the F-150 Lightning, has four models to choose from. It is reported to go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. It has a Mega Power Frunk, a separate locked storage compartment with power outlets for charging devices.

Ford Co-Pilot 360 Technology

Ford Co-Pilot 360 Technology is a group of driver assistance systems that enhance driving safety. These include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping system, BLIS (blind spot information system) with cross-traffic alert, and a rearview camera. Additional systems include Autolamp, which turns your headlamps on at twilight and when the wipers are engaged, and automatic high-beam headlamps.

Auto Hold keeps your brakes engaged while at a stop light until you touch the accelerator, and Auto Start-Stop turns the engine off while at a stop light or intersection and puts it in standby mode until you touch the accelerator. Adaptive Cruise Control with lane-centering will adjust your speed based on the traffic. BlueCruise is a hands-free driving system with a driver-facing camera to monitor the driver’s alertness.

Towing Technology

The F-150 truck has trailer assistance technologies such as trailer sway control, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Trailer Reverse Guidance, reverse sensing system, hill start assist, and BLIS with cross-traffic alert and trailer tow coverage. The available Dynamic Hitch Assist makes having a spotter or getting out of your truck while hitching up a trailer a thing of the past.

To truly appreciate all these and many other innovations, you must see and experience them. Schedule a test drive at Chestatee Ford in Dahlonega, GA, to experience the F-150 in person.
