Model T
This classic model changed the world. It was relatively inexpensive for the time and made owning an automobile possible for millions of people. With increased numbers of automobiles on the road, the road network expanded, and more and more communities in the US were linked together in the process. More than 16.5 million Model T’s were built, and they changed the world forever.
The Model T was sturdy, dependable, and powered by an advanced engine for the time. While it might seem low-powered today, its 2.9L I-4 could produce 20 hp, with 83lb of torque, and reach a top speed of 45mph.
Ford Thunderbird
The 1950s saw a growing demand for automobiles. Increased salaries, more leisure time, and the growth of the highway system meant more people wanted to get out on the road. The Ford Thunderbird filled this demand perfectly. It was spacious, comfortable, and perfect for taking your family anywhere you wanted to go.
The Thunderbird was powered by a 4.8L V8 Y-block engine, that produced 193 hp and 280lb of torque. It could reach a top speed of 108mph.
Ford Mustang
Let’s skip ahead a decade to 1964, and the launch of the Ford Mustang. It was launched as a small, affordable, yet powerful sports car aimed at younger buyers. It proved so popular that the Mustang is now in its seventh generation and still delighting drivers with its stylish looks and excellent handling.
The original Mustang had a 4.7L V8 small-block engine, which produced 271 hp with 316lb of torque. It could reach a top speed of 100 mph.
Ford Bronco
The year 1965 introduced a new type of vehicle, the SUV. There was demand for a vehicle that could operate both on and off-road, with a large cargo capacity, and yet still be stylish and comfortable for everyday family use. Ford’s designers got to work, and the Ford Bronco was born.
It was built to a sturdy, boxy design that would define all SUVs for the future. The fBroncosnco’s were powered by a 2.8L straight 6, and additional engine options soon followed to give drivers even more power. Numerous options were also offered, including bucket seats, tow bars, and CB radios.
