Pic-nicLocated in Dahlonega, about an hour north of Atlanta, Georiga sits the beautiful Yahoola Creek Park. Situated near the Northeast Georgia Mountains, Yahoola isn’t your typical park. Of course, it has walking and hiking trails, but there is much more to experience here. We’ve put together a list of great activities for young and old to enjoy during your visit.

1: Walk Their Walking Trail

One of the main focal points of this park is the walking trail. The main walking trail is a 1.5-mile stretch encompassing the park. This trail is perfect for people of all ages and hiking abilities. Many use this tail to jog while you can also take a stroll with friends or family. You’ll find plenty of places to stop and enjoy nature, such as their benches near the creek. It’s even a great place to take your dogs for a walk, provided you stay on the trail with them.

2: Participate in Sports

If you’re looking to participate in sports, you’ll be able to do that here. Throughout their walking trail, you’ll find tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, and a soccer field. You can get a group of friends together or your family and have a day playing sport with them. The fields are on a first come first serve basis so keep that in mind if this is something you’re interested in doing on your visit.

3: Have a Picnic

Whether you took a couple of laps around the walking trail, were burning calories playing a variety of sports, or simply looking to have lunch in nature, enjoying a picnic near the scenic creek is a must-do. Pack whatever sounds delicious to you and enjoy your time within nature while gazing out at the beautiful creek. It’s a great way to break up the day with your children in between soccer games or hiking the various trials.

4: Play on the Playgrounds

As mentioned, there is something for everyone here. While taking your young children for a walk can be enjoyable, kids will be kids. The park offers multiple playgrounds to indulge your little ones. You can take a seat at the park benches and watch them play while you take in the beauty around you.

5: Fish in the Creek

Fishing is popular at this park. The creek that runs through the park is a perfect spot for anglers of all ages and skill levels. You can expect to catch various species of Bass as well as Trout in this creek.
