2: Waters Creek

Approximately 10 miles from town is Waters Creek. This stream is a popular spot for catching different species of trout. The types of trout that have been caught here previously include rainbow trout, brown trout, and brook trout. You’re only allowed to fish here with a hook that is a size six or smaller and with an artificial lure. There are a few fishing permits and stamps you need to fish here, so be sure to check the website for requirements.

4: Etowah River

You can only go fishing in the Etowah River during the fishing season. The fishing season in Georgia is from March 1st until July 15th, statewide. The best part to fish the Etowah river is in the Wildlife Management Area. There’s a lot of fish that you can catch here. A few species that swim in the river are carp, blue and channel catfish, striped bass, redbreast sunfish, and redeye and spotted bass.

5: Lake Winfield Scott

The fish at Lake Winfield Scott are regularly stocked during trout season. There is a fishing pier located on the lake that allowed anglers a fantastic spot to fish. You can expect to catch trout, catfish, bass, brim, and perch in this lake.

6: Jones Creek

If you’re searching for the best place in the area to catch brown trout, you need to try fishing in Jones Creek. This creek is not a stocked body of water and contains almost exclusively brown trout. Unlike some other fishing areas, Jones Creek is only open for fishing during the fishing season.
