Foothill Grill This spot serves breakfast food all day, so you can satisfy your cravings even if you slept in and missed your alarm. Of all the different selections you'll have to choose from, nothing beats their Jumbo Pancakes for us. These buttermilk pancakes come out big and fluffy, making a stack of three of them more than enough of a sweet treat to satisfy you all morning long. 3. Wagon Wheel Southern comfort is for breakfast at Wagon Wheel, with all sorts of morning fare to fill your belly with. We got a complete breakfast all on one plate when we stopped in for a visit, with a tall stack of pancakes, crispy hash browns, and a side of bacon leaving us thoroughly full by the end of the meal. A slice of their fresh-baked pie makes the perfect dessert afterward if you've got an early morning sweet tooth. 4. Yellow Daisy Bed and Breakfast While the Yellow Daisy makes a great place for visitors to our area to spend the night, they also serve up some delicious breakfast that even locals can enjoy. Their artisan breads make the perfect snack, and you can wash it all down with some of their herbal teas that come out fresh-brewed. They also have a lot of different baked goods to start your morning off with a sweet treat. 5. Picnic Cafe and Dessertery You haven't had the best of what breakfast can offer until you try the Egg Salad on a Bagel at Picnic Cafe. You'll get it on a bagel of your choice, with varieties available from an everything bagel to just a plain one. Be sure to try one of the fresh goods from their bakery before you leave. You'll be running in top condition for the whole rest of the day after fueling up at one of these breakfast spots. Whether named for a Cherokee Chief or the panthers that roam the area makes no difference. We suggest you make your first stop at Goats on the Roof General Store. Dawsonville, GA Ready for outdoor adventure? The town of Dawsonville is less than a half-hour drive southwest and is home to the Amicalola Falls State Park which boasts the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. The museum is home to more than 90 items connecting the past to the present by educating visitors about the lasting impact of these transportation inventions on the American southeast. Standing 85 feet tall, Cane Creek waterfall is one of the most dramatic plunge-falls in the Fall Creek area and one of the larger cascades east of the Mississippi River. This is a moderately difficult stretch of the trail and not recommended for those that are hoping for peace and quiet - This area is known to have heavy traffic. Lake Zwerner (Yahoola Creek Reservoir) Lake Zwerner is the perfect place to go hit the trails solo or to take the whole family to enjoy the many activities available. Offering just over a three-mile trail, the highlight of this park is the lake itself. Enjoy all of the activities such as kayaking, boating, fishing, and even swimming. Dogs are welcome to come along to this park as long as they are on a leash with their owner. Jake Mountain Loop Trail The Jake Mountain Loop Trail can provide a great day of fun and amazing scenery. The use of mountain bikes and horse riding around the trails is encouraged. The loop is just under ten miles and is home to many wildflowers, wildlife, and scenic views. Open all year round, this trail can be enjoyed at your leisure. If you do plan on taking your mountain bike out on the trails be prepared to ride through or carry your bike through small streams along the way. Dockery Lake Loop Dockery Lake Loop is one of the smaller trails located in the area being just over half a mile long. The trail winds around the lake and gives you a great outdoor experience. A big reason that Dockery Lake is extremely popular is because of the short length, ease of use, and the promotion of accommodating wheelchairs along the trail. There is a wooden fishing pier located at one end of the lake and a nice picnic area at the other end of the lake providing a place for many activities. The Underground Adventure Tour is guided by a knowledgeable staff member who will tell you historic tales of the struggles miners faced in their attempts to uncover gold a century ago. Once the tour is over, you will receive instructions on gold panning and have a chance to give it try for yourself. All paid admissions receive a free gold panning sample, and you get you to keep anything you uncover mining. Keep in mind this is a walking tour. You will travel 200 feet underground using two ramps and three flights of stairs, and it is suggested you wear suitable closed-toed shoes. This package is better suited for older participants that can practice patience, as gold panning can take time. Instructions are provided and you keep all your findings.
